Porcelain Doll Pink Pumpkins – Where to Find

Yesterday I learned for a new variety of pumpkin that I wanted to share with you. It’s called Porcelain Doll. The reason why I am bringing it to your attention is that it’s PINK! Yes a pink pumpkin. The seeds were available for the first time this season, so the first pumpkins are hitting the market place now. Porcelain Doll is a hybrid variety that is orange on the inside. It is an edible variety that is sweet. You can use it for pies, soups, or whatever you would use pumpkin for.

A nationwide campaign is going along with this pumpkin. A portion of the sale will go to a nonprofit organization called the Pink Pumpkin Patch. Their mission to get help fund research for breast cancer. So not only are you buying a pumpkin that will look good in your house and in your tummy, you are also supporting cancer research. It’s a win-win!

So where do I find one of these beauties? I have a list of retailers as well as a list of growers organized by state. Check with these growers to see about availability. You can also grow them yourself (of course you will have to wait until next year). Seeds can be purchased from companies such as NE Seed or on Amazon.com. If you do come across one, you might want to accept a decorating challenge that a fellow blogger who is hosting.
