Southeast Michigan U-Pick Apple News (10/5/10)

DSCF1875 U-pick apple season in southeast Michigan is nearing the later stages. There are still plenty of apples to be had. Now is the time to get some of the best apple pie apples like Northern Spy and Granny Smith. Act fast, we have had some threats of frost, but no actual freezing temperatures yet.

Macomb County
1. Blake Farms in Armada, MI are currently offering all their apples varieites for u-pick (except Honeycrisp). For more information visit their website or call them at 586-784-5343

2. Hys Cider Mill in Romeo, MI are open weekends 11am-6pm for u-pick until November. For more information call (810) 798-3611

3. Miller’s Big Red Apple Orchard in Romeo, MI (Washington Township) will have these apples for u-pick this year: McIntosh, Gala, Jonamac, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Jonathan, Mutsu, Fuji, Fortunes, Ida Red, Northern Spys, Macon, Super Chief, Spur Delicious and Red Free. Monroe County

Washtenaw County
1. Wasem Fruit Farm in Milan, MI will have the following apples for u-pick this season. These are the apples I believe that are currently available (call to be sure): Jonathan, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Rome Beauty, and Ida Red. Granny Smith should be soon to follow.
