One of the most fantastic treats of the summer season is all the berries at your fingertips. This summer is extra exciting with the introduction of Sunshine raspberries. These raspberries grown by under the Driscoll's label are a combination of red and golden raspberries. They are a beautiful berries contains hues of both red and yellow. They have a unique flavor of their own, not quite like a traditional red raspberry, and different from a golden one. The ones I had were pretty large in size and were sweet enough to not need any additional sugar (or honey which I like to put on berries).
Since these berries are new to the market place, finding them won't be an easy task. The only place I know right now that is selling them is Plum Market in Ann Arbor, Michigan. If you have seem them in any other stores, please leave a comment below, along with your thoughts on this new raspberry.
Also I want to point out that there is a code on the bottom of the package. If you enter that code into their website (mydriscolls.com) you can trace exactly what farm the berries came from.

I tried these raspberries today and thought they tasted exactly like regular red rasberries. Very delicious, but only differed in color not taste in my opinion. They seemed less juicy though, which was a bit disappointing because I like to mix juicy berries into cottage cheese.

I was at chuck's produce in salmon creek, wash. Today and bought some to try. They are really fantastic! What a great snack!

I thought these were delicious - no sugar or other sweetener needed. I do believe there is a difference between the red and golden raspberries and then the golden raspberry. I hope I can find these in my local market again. Would definitely recommend.

Glad to hear that you found them. I have not seen them since I originally wrote this post back in 2011!

I have just found them today at Trader Joe's in San Jose. It was my first time trying them and although tarter than red raspberries, they were quite good without the addition of any sweetener.

I just purchased my first 4 clamshells yesterday at Stauffers of Kissel Hill (Lititz, PA). They are a refreshing change from the red raspberries that I eat almost every day! Mild in taste and slightly less seedy, they taste (to me) like a raspberry crossed with a mild melon. Mixing red and gold together is a treat for the eyes!
Oh, and they were on sale for the give-away price of 2/$5!
I will definitely buy them again.

Awesome. Glad that you found them. This year they have been easier to find than in past seasons. I love the color as well. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts!

Glad you can find them. They are a nice alternative. I got lucky once and found them on sale for $1. We had to eat them fast, but that wasn't a problem!

I found them yesterday at a Sharp Shopper Grocery store in Winchester VA. Bought several packages of them as they were only 99 cents. Boy does my 2 year old grandson love them. One day later and I am almost out. I wish i had time to run back for a few more containers of them but i live 40 mins from there. They are firm and sweet and definitely less seedy. I think they taste a little citrusy. And am looking forward to making fresh raspberry lemonade with the ones i have left. Delicious. Will look for these again.

I am happy that you were able to find them. Lemonade sounds like a splendid idea. Let me know if you do it and how it turns out.
