Calypso Pineapple Peach Limeade

The lemon and the lime. A popular flavor combination in the soda world. But I am a firm believer that these two flavors are best when they are not together. Every lime flavored soda pop I have had has tasted better than any lemon-lime combo. This doesn’t mean I don’t like to mix up my lemon and lime flavors with other flavors, just not each other. I am a big fan of flavored lemonades. I am also a big fan of flavored limeads, which I believe are often overlooked. Those days of being overlooked may be over with Calypso Limeades available on the market from the same people who brough us Triple Melon and Ocean Blue Lemonade.

Calypso has 6 flavors of limeade – Natural Limeade, Sweet Cherry, Tangerine, Pink Guava, Pineapple Peach, and Coconut Coloda. The only two that I have had myself were the Pineapple Peach and Sweet Cherry – both of which I liked. The Sweet Cherry Limeade is a classic combination that Calypso does justice to. The pineapple peach is a more unique concept which I found to work, with all three flavors – peach, pineapple, and lime shinning through.

Anyone that knows me, knows that I look finding things for people. So of the best and most popular posts on this blog have been “my where to buy posts.” I want to help you locate these limeades. You can check out my Calypso Lemonade post to see where that is available as you might be able to find the limeades at the same location. If you found them, let me know where and what you thought.

Where to Buy
Busch’s (Ann Arbor, MI)
Holiday Market (Canton, MI)

These first 2 locations is where I have found them myself.

Zanotto’s Family Market (San Jose)
Foodtown (New Jersey)

Here is a list of distributors that I found carry the limeads. You can check to them to see what retailers might have them –

In recent years I have seen an increase in the amount of drinks available that are half lemonade and half tea. The most popular of these drinks is the Arnold Palmer which is licensed by the Arizona Beverage Company. Now the King Juice Company, makers of Calypso Lemonade have gotten in on the act with their Teamonades. I got a chance to try 5 flavors over the hot & humid Memorial Day weekend. The first thing I wondered is how strong of a tea flavor these drinks would have. I will drink sweet tea, but I have to admit that I don’t like anything that is strong. I am sure serious tea drinkers would stick their noses up at me. I am use to the tea that comes in powdered form sold by Lipton. That is what Calypso Teamonade resembles more. And that is fine by me. In fact I think these are drinks are an improved version of the Lipton powdered mixes.

Below you will find my reviews of the 5 flavors that I tried. I purchased them at Busch’s in Saline, MI. There is a mint tea, but I haven’t gotten my hands on that one yet.

1) Half Tea & Half Lemonade
I thought I would start off with the most basic flavor. This is a straight up mix of tea and lemonade. It is a good standard. I don’t think I would buy it again just because the other choices have addition flavors in them that give them more depth. But if you can’t get the basic right, then there is no hope. The King Juice Company is starting from a good place.

2) Peach Tea
Whenever I bought those Lipton powdered teas in the past, my favorite flavor was always their Summer Peach. So I like the peach tea flavor and this one did not disappoint. I liked it much better than the Lipton stuff. It had a nice peach flavor that was strong enough to give character to the drink without being overwhelming. I could smell the peach immediately when I opened the bottle.

3) Mangerine Tea
This mangerine tea is a combination of mango and tangerine. The mango flavor is the most dominant. This was my favorite flavor of the entire bunch (my wife agrees too). All the flavors in this drink really work well together, to give your taste buds something to get excited about. This will be my go to flavor in the future.

4) Blueberry Tea
Blueberries are one of my favorite summer time treats. I don’t think I have had a blueberry flavored tea before. The flavor definitely works. Like the peach, I was greeted by the smell of blueberries when I opened the bottle. While not as good as the mangerine, I would buy this flavor again.

5) Plumcot Tea
Plumcot is the combination of plum and apricot. But I didn’t feel either of those flavors really stood out. I probably would haven’t though of either fruit in a blind taste test. So this was probably my least favorite of all the flavors. But it still wasn’t bad at all.

Have you had the chance to try Calypso Teamonade? What is your flavor? I would love to hear from you, leave a comment below.

Calypso Southern Peach Lemonade Over a year ago, I reviewed all the flavors of Calypso bottled lemonades. Or at least I thought I had reviewed them all. I discovered their Southern Peach Lemonade while looking for a bathroom at a gas station near Vince and Joe’s Gourmet Market. Didn’t realize my potty search would come up with a new Calypso flavor. Since Calypso reviews have done well on my website in terms of traffic, I definitely had to have this flavor (plus I was thirsty – very thirsty!). I thought my wife would like to try it too as peach is her favorite fruit by far. The best question about a peach lemonade is does it have that genuine peach taste?

As I opened the bottle, I let my nose have the first experience. It had a fresh peach smell. And then my tongue got to taste a geniue peach flavor. But it wasn’t as good as I was hoping. It wasn’t bad, it just didn’t really knock my socks off. The peach flavor while natural tasting, still needs a bit more of a punch. I think with some fine tuning this drink could get a higher rating. Plenty of other people have commented that they enjoy it, so give it a try for yourself.

Calypso Orange Juice I have been able to find the Calypso brand lemonades at several stores in my area. Upon looking at their website I discovered that the King Juice Company makes more than just lemonades under their Calypso brand. I never found any of these other products until I was in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. At Angeli’s in Iron River, MI I was able to purchase their orange juice. It is 100% orange juice that comes in a 12 ounce glass bottle. The ingredient list reads like this : triple filtered water, orange juice concentrate from Floridian and Brazilian sources.

2stars If you like a tart orange juice, than this might be the brand for you. I prefer my orange juice a little sweeter, so this was a disappointment for me. I did not find it to be any better than any store brand orange juice. It didn’t taste like a fresh squeezed orange at all.

Where to Buy
The only place I have seen Calypso Orange Juice is at Angeli’s Market in Iron River, Michigan. If you have seen it elsewhere, feel free to leave a comment.

Calypso Raspberry Earlier today I wrote about one of the most exotic lemonade flavors – Triple Melon. Now I am going to write about one of the most common – raspberry lemonade. Raspberries and lemons go very nicely together. So how did the King Juice Company, makers of Calypso lemonade do at creating this classic combination.

3stars Surprisingly, just ok. It was quite boring compared to some of their other flavors, like the previously mentioned Triple Melon or their black cherry. There was nothing bad about it, it just was rather forgettable. I think Calypso does their best work when it’s something unique. But if your a raspberry lemonade lover, I would still give this one a try. I may not have been the best that I have had, but it may be the best you have had.

Calypso Melon I have tried many different fruit flavors mixed into lemonade. One of the most unique combinations I have tried is the Triple Melon lemonade from Calypso. I thought I had tried all of the Calypso flavors, but then I saw this unique colored liquid staring at me from a refrigerated unit at Plum Market in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It also caught the eye of the cashier as I was checking out. I have had watermelon flavored drinks before, but never a drink that combined multiple types of melons. The three melons are watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew.

5stars I was really surprised in how much I liked this drink. I thought that the watermelon flavor would win out, but the King Juice Company did a wonderful job of balancing each melon flavor, along with the punch of tartness from the lemonade. Very impressive.

Where to Buy
I think this flavor is harder to find than some of the others, as I have only seen it at one store (Plum Market). Click here to read my post about where you can find Calypso products.

Calypso Mandarin Lemonade

Next up on my taste journey through “the islands” it is Calypso’s Mandarin lemonade. The ingredient list doesn’t give us any more information on the mandarin half of this drink, just saying it includes natural flavors besides the lemon juice. Was the combining of these two citrus flavors a good move?

3stars Not really, I didn’t think this was a really good flavor. I think it was one of the more tart flavors, but I really couldn’t distinguish between the mandarin and lemon flavors. I would be no means say it was awful, it just wasn’t up to par with some of the other lemonades produce by the King Juice Company. I still gave it three stars because it wasn’t awful tasting. A drink has to get at least 4 stars for me to purchase it again.

Calypso Black Cherry

I am once again here to review another “Taste of the Islands” Calypso’s Black Cherry Lemonade. This beverage bottled by the King Juice Company contains real cherry juice concentrate. No fake cherry flavor that tastes like cough medicine in this product.

5stars I think is one of the best flavors in the Calypso lemonade line. The cherry and lemon flavors are in a nice balance and go really well together. This drink is not overly sweet, and has the tartness you would expect from cherries and lemons. I highly recommend you try this lemonade.

Calypso Tropical Mango “Tropical”, “Ocean”, “Wild” are all words soft drink makers like to add to the front of their flavors to make them sound more exotic. Today I am going to be reviewing the Tropical Mango Lemonade from Calypso. This “tropical” drink contains actual mango puree, not some artificial mango flavoring. It also contains pure cane sugar as the sweetener and pieces of lemon bits to give the drinker a more true lemonade experience (or to give you the feeling that someone back-washed into your drink at the factory).

4stars This is the first time I have had mango and lemonade together and I think it works well. The mango flavor is pleasant and geniue (that’s what using real mango puree will do). There is a little bit of an aftertaste that will bring down the rating of this drink. Is the mango flavoring hiding a inferior lemonade? Maybe, but I still think this drink is worth at, at least for the originality of combining mango and lemon.
