As the calendar is about to turn over once again to a New Year, I wanted to look back at the top 10 posts this year on the blog. This top 10 list features apples and peaches, a couple posts I wrote within the first few months of starting the website, and a few posts that relate back to the ABC show, Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution.
(10) Jamie Oliver’s Rainbow Salad with Homemade Dressing Recipe
Jamie made this salad on an episode of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. He didn’t give the recipe during the show. I had to look around for a while trying to find it. My friend eventually found a video from another Jamie Oliver show where he makes this kind of salad. I have gotten a spike in traffic whenever an episode of that other show airs in Canada or Australia.
(9) L-Cysteine : A Dough Softener Made from Feathers and Hair
During Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, Jamie served up some ice cream sundaes for a classroom of high school students. He shows them that L-Cysteine is gathered from hair and feathers to make a dough softener that is added to the cookie dough in the ice cream. Yum!
(8) Opal Apple
This apple is among the varieties that is released in the winter time. It’s a yellow apple that is sweet but with some tartness. It’s a crisp one too. I first discovered it at my local Whole Foods Market.
(7) Chuck Eye Steak
I wrote this post right near the start of the website. It’s about how to take a chuck eye steak and make it into a tender and flavorful meal. This is done by using a ton of kosher salt on the steak, then you rinse off right before cooking.
(6) Pork Sirloin Roast
Another early post on the site. This is my guide to cooking a delicious, juicy pork sirloin roast, a cut that can be had for a pretty cheap price.
(5) Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution – Season 2 Episode 2 Recap
Jamie Oliver’s third apperance in the top 10 this year. This time for the recap of the 2nd episode of season 2. In this episode, Jamie made up what he called Revolution Burgers to add to a menu for a independent fast food joint in Los Angeles. I included the ingredients of each burger for the post, which is why it got so many hits.
(4) Red Haven Peaches
The Red Haven peach has become the most popular peach variety here in my home state of Michigan as well in other areas. Every year people await it’s arrival, which is usually in the first half of August. When I work at the farmer’s market this year, I got a lot of people asking if we still had Red Havens.
(3) Where to Find SweeTango Apples
The biggest apple to hit the marketplace since the Honeycrisp, became more widely available this year. I listed as many places as I knew that had the apple. Late in the season, I got a nice boost in traffic to this page after the SweeTango was mentioned on an NPR radio show.
(2) Where to Buy Calypso Lemonade
I had a lot of people coming to my site in 2011, looking to find where they could find Calypso lemonade. This lemonade comes in several unique flavors like Triple Melon and Southern Peach.

When Does Peach Season Begin and End
One of my favorite post that I wrote this year turned out to be the most popular of the entire year. In this post, I talked about when peach seasons begins around the country, concentrating on California, Georgia, and Michigan.
