Fresh Michigan strawberries are some of the greatest treasures on earth. I will wait all year to get a chance to eat some really good strawberries. The ones that arrive in the state from California and Florida can't ever match up. Typically strawberry season in Michigan last about 3-4 weeks, so it's important to keep an eye on when it begins. This year most crops seem to be behind schedule because of the cold, wet start to spring.
I heard one report from Whittaker's Berry Farm in Ida, Michigan. They said they are expecting a bumper crop this year! They are expecting the start of the season to be around June 10th. They offer u-pick and already picked strawberries. Rowe's Produce Farm in Milan, Michigan also is expecting their crop is be ready around the same time. Last year, I picked strawberries at Rowe's on June 9th.
