Case for Mondays - My Secret to Fluffy Quinoa

    Published: Sep 24, 2018 Β· Modified: Sep 6, 2020 by Eric Samuelson

There is no mistake about it. I love Mondays.

I know I might sound super crazy to you. But I have always adored the first day of the week (sorry, Sunday your part of the weekEND)

Mondays are about having a fresh start. A chance to start over that comes once a week. A time to forget the "failures" or "struggles" of the previous week.

I certainly don't have a case of the Monday, in fact I want to give my case for Mondays.

In honor of my excitement for Monday, I want to give you a new reason to be excited about Mondays. That is why we are launching a new blog series "Case for Mondays" to give that new Monday feel. These posts will be dedicated to highlighting 5 different things that will making eating food better or easier to do.

We will have one main topic, this week "My Secret to Fluffy Quinoa".

My favorite brand of quinoa - I Heart Keenwah

    My Secret to Fluffy Quinoa

    Everyone wants fluffy quinoa, right?

My secret to fluffy quinoa is not a technique. It's the type of quinoa. I love I Heart Keenwah, just as much as I love Mondays! It is no doubt the best tasting quinoa I have ever had. They use heirloom Bolivian Royal Quinoa. Compared to the most commonly sold quinoa this quinoa cooks up 30% fluffier.

As for flavor, the quinoa has been toasted. This create a nutty flavor unlike any other quinoa I have had. Before we tried this quinoa my wife and I were ok with quinoa. We weren't huge fans. Now we are.  It's a must try for sure.

Here are 4 more food things I wanted to share this Monday morning.

    Oxo Food Mill

This month I have been making tomato sauce from tomatoes fresh from the garden. I also made a batch of Concord grape jam. My Oxo Food Mill made both of these jobs so much easier. I can run the tomatoes and grapes through the food mill to remove the skin and seeds. I got the Oxo food mill a year ago and I love it. It fits easily on any bowl or pot and it comes with interchangeable discs. The disc with the smallest holes was perfect to keeping the grape seeds out of my jam.

    Moon Drop Grapes

Speaking of grapes, these Moon Drop grapes are totally out of this world. Look at their crazy shape.

    Moon Drops Grapes

I never expected to be eating grapes that were this shape. I really like the indentation at the end of the grape. So weird. Yet so crispy, juicy, and flavorful.

    Blondee Apples

Right now we are loving Blondee apples in my home. They are a yellow apple that are crisp right now and have greata flavor. Way better than Golden Delicious. I am finding them at farmer's market near me here in the Midwest.

    Meadowfoam Honey

I swear Meadowfoam honey tastes like vanilla marshmallows. It is one of the most unique honeys I have had. I have been known for just grabbing a spoon and eating it straight from the jar.
