Guggisberg is known for the Original Baby Swiss cheese.
Guggisberg Cheese
Located in Millersburg, Ohio | Established in 1950 | Known for : The Original Baby Swiss
Ok I am going to come out and immediately admit it, I am not a fan of strong cheeses. I won't try Limburger, cheddar does not get better with age for me, blue cheese - no thank you, and Swiss you're just too much. This is why I love Guggisberg. They not only make the best mild cheeses, they have the best selection from Amish Butter to Farmer's to Colby.
Their ultimate star of mild, deliciousness is Baby Swiss. And it should be. They were the ones that invented it. While many people have tried to duplicate it, I can tell you I have never tasted any better than the original.
Guggisberg founder, Alfred Guggisberg came to the United States in 1947. In the 1960s, Alfred was looking to come up with a new style of Swiss cheese. You see, we Americans don't always have the most developed palate and I am guilty as charged when it comes to cheese. Alfred developed a Swiss that has smaller holes with a creamier, mild taste. His wife, Margaret named the cheese "Baby Swiss" after looking at wheel next to traditional Emmental Swiss.
I first found Guggisberg Baby Swiss at my local Meijer store. I wasn't a Swiss fan but was intrigued at the idea of a milder Swiss, so I bought a wedge. Guggisberg cheese won a place in my heart that day, so I am honored to kick off his holiday guide with them.
Tip - Sprinkle a little bit of Fleur de Sel sea salt on a slice of Guggisberg Baby Swiss. Your mind will be blown by how good it is.
This sampler of Guggisberg cheese will give you the perfect taste of what Guggisberg is all about. The Amish Butter cheese is as creamy as butter, you get their Premium Swiss to compare with the Baby Swiss, the Farmers Cheese is smooth and slightly sweet tasting, and their Colby cheese has won an award at the World Dairy Expo. Their Marble combines that Colby with Monterrey Jack for a classic "Co-Jack" that my kids go crazy for.
