Joe Randazzo's Fruit and Vegetables - Westland, MI

This is part of a series of posts on grocery stores that I have been to and would recommend to those that live in the area to check them out.

Fruit and vegetables are critical part of one's diet. Or at least they should be. For great prices on fruit and vegetables, check out Joe Randazzo's Fruit and Vegetables in Westland, Michigan (they also have stores in Detroit, Dearborn Heights, and Roseville). They are a no-frills grocery store. You will not find fancy displays, just rows of bins containing all sorts of fruits and vegetables. Their prices are amazing. I found honeycrisp apples there for $.69 a pound! In fact all their apples were that price. They are a good place to go if you are looking for things not normally found at your mega mart. I knew someone from India that shopped there all the time because she could find some things there and no where else.

The drawbacks to the store is that it can be busy at times, especially on the weekend, and be hard to get through all the aisles without running into someone. Also you can't depend on something being there. Last time I wanted to get some limes but they didn't have any. But the good thing is I always find something there I didn't expect at a deal I didn't expect (I got lemons instead that trip!). The quality overall is not going to be as good as a place like Whole Foods. But every time I have left the store I couldn't believe I just got that much for what I paid and that's worth the trip. In fact, I know someone who goes there every other week (it's about a 30-40 minute drive for her, depending on traffic) because it's worth the trip for her and her family.

Here is a picture of everything I bought on my trip to Randazzo's on Sunday, February 14th, 2010

My total cost that trip was $27.63!
