Last Friday, I made a pit stop at the farmer’s market at Laguna Hills Mall. This was the 3rd market, I got to check out during my trip out to Orange County. I came there looking for some strawberries to use in some lemonade for a wedding the next day. Being in a mall parking lot, gives you plenty of parking options. The market is setup into a square, that makes it easy to check out all the vendors before making purchases. This market runs every Friday from 9am-1pm, rain or shine
Several vendors were selling citrus at this market. There was a lot of free samples given out. Several vendors had samples prepared for all the different types of citrus being sold as well as apples and pears. I haven’t seen these kind of free sample setups in my markets in Michigan. They are a great idea, I think they really draw the customers in.
I had plenty of options for finding strawberries. I found 3 pack of strawberries for $5. They were cheaper as they were oddly shaped, but that wasn’t a concern for me. I also discovered something I was looking to purchase while out in California, some avocados. A found a very friendly vendor selling a couple varieties of avocado. My wife is looking forward to tasting the difference in different varieties of avocado. We only can buy the Haas variety in Michigan. The vendor explain that this was because it is the one that ships the best, so it is all the supermarkets want.
