This is part of a series of posts on grocery stores that I have been to and would recommend to those that live in the area to check them out.
My wife got a two night stay at a hotel as a Christmas gift this year, which is how we ended up in Fort Wayne, Indiana. As someone who writes about food one of the first things I wanted to know was about the local grocery stores and the first one I got to visit was the Fresh Market (located at 6306 West Jefferson Blvd). It is a chain store found in 18 states, based out of North Carolina. It's a more upsale store, not necessarily a place I would come to get my everyday needs but a store to pick up some special goodies. They had some decent sale prices, like I got some naval oranges and pears for 99 cents a pound. The store has a wide selection of gourmet coffee beans, dried fruits, cheese, meat, spices, and more. The atmosphere of the store was nice, I like the lighting and the displays. At the bakery section, my daughter got a free cookie, which was a nice treat. If I was in town again I might stop it and see what's going on.
