Earlier this month, I reviewed another soda from Vermont Sweetwater, their Rugged Mountain Root Beer. And it wasn't a very glowing review. But I wasn't ready to give up on the company yet. I went into tasting their Tangerine Cream Twister without any expectations. This soda pop is said to have "a tangy tangerine with a subtle cream finish.".
This is a better offering from Vermont Sweetwater. I agree that it is "a tangy tangerine with a subtle cream finish". This is not an orange soda being passed off as tangerine, it definitely has that tangerine taste to it. So all was good until the aftertaste hit me. I wish could just have the first moment that liquid hits my tongue and do without the rest of the moments. I think the evaporated cane juice used in this drink is to blame for the unpleasant aftertaste. The worst drink I ever reviewed for this site, Natural Brew Vanilla Creme Soda, also contained cane juice. This drink was by no means that bad. I would love to try it with the cane juice replaced by cane sugar and see if that makes a difference. For now, it's close to being good, but just misses the mark.
Where to Buy
I got mine through the online business of the Old 52 General Store. They carry the full line of Vermont Sweetwater sodas that includes a maple soda. They also have over 300 other flavors of soda pop. Their physical store is located in Sabin, Minnesota.
