Veggie Spotlight - Swiss Chard

Did you know that Swiss Chard didn't originate in Switzerland? It's believed to instead be from Italy. 

Swiss chard can be found in stores year round as it grows in both warmer and cooler weather.

Chard is related to beets. You can use beet greens just as you would chard.

The stems of chard can be pink, red, white, yellow, and orange.

You can include Swiss Chard when making pesto.

Sautee chard with some garlic and add it to your favorite pasta.

Also chopped chard is great to add into hot soups.

Growing Swiss Chard is easier than spinach and will add color to your garden.
