Place as many frozen burger patties as you want to cook or that will fit in your air fryer. Arrange in a single layer.
Set your air fryer for 10 minutes at 400 degrees. But only air fry the burgers until they reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees checked with an instant read thermometer in the middle of the burger. If not done at 10 minutes, cook longer at the same temperature until they are.
If you want to add cheese, do so after about 8 minutes of cooking. Pause the air fryer, pull out the basket. Add thinly sliced cheese. Close the basket. Allow to sit for a couple minutes before you start it up again. This will allow the cheese to begin to melt enough so the air from the air fryer doesn't blow the cheese off the burger. Then finish air frying until the burgers are at 160 degrees.
