Learn how to cook the Kirkland Frozen Burger Patties from Costco in your air fryer.

Cheese burgers in an air fryer basket with a plate of fries and lettuce next to it and a plate of pickles.

Why air fry Costco Kirkland Burger Patties? The patties are thin and large, so they cook quickly in the air fryer, get browned on all sides without flipping, and come out juicy. Air fry at 400 degrees for about 10-15 minutes when the burgers hit an internal temperatures of 160 degrees.

In the mood for burgers but don't feel like firing up the grill or making a mess on the stove top? Try air frying your burgers and for added convivence, use the frozen burger patties from Costco.

💲 How Much Do They Cost?

Depending on whether you choose the sirloin, grass-fed, or ground chuck, the price of the frozen patties will range from $22.49 to $26.69 with the per pound being around $4-5 a pound. Considering that ground beef at Costco runs around $4 a pound you aren't paying a lot more for the convenience of having the pre-formed patties.

    🛒 Ingredients

For this recipe I picked out the grass-fed patties because they had the right amount of fat, not too much, and not too little.

Look for buns that match the size of the patties. We actually like to make our own buns from scratch. Our Costco has a great deal on a local flour that costs $12 for a 25 pound bag. We store the flour in a 5 gallon bucket when we bring it home.

I like to use these pickles on the burgers because they are so good. They aren't the right shape for burgers, so I just cut them to fit on my burgers. So worth it. Even if you don't put them on the burgers, serving them along side them is a great idea.

    📋 Instructions

First thing I think you need to know is that there is no reason to thaw the patties before hand. Put them directly in the air fryer still frozen.

Raw burger patties in an air fryer basket.

Ideally, the burgers would not be touching but in my case they were slightly overlapping. You definitely don't want to completely stack them. Don't worry, because when the burgers start to cook they will shrink some and eventually will fit better. Like in this picture:

Cooking time is going to depend on which type of burger you choose, as the amount of fat will differ.

Air fry the frozen burger patties for 10-15 minutes without flipping, at a temperature of 400 degrees until they reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees, check with an instant read thermometer. That temperature is what is recommended on the packaging.

I always stress to cook by temperature not time. That's how you can cook your meat perfectly every single time.

Need a thermometer? Check out my post on What Thermometers To Use for Cooking Beef?

I have a dual basket air fryer, so I am able to cook 4 burgers at once, 2 in each basket. If you need more, I would set your oven to the lowest setting and keep the burgers warm inside the oven on a sheet pan.

    🧀 How to Add Cheese

You don't want to put the cheese on the entire time the burger is cooking. You only need to add it in the last 2-3 minutes of cooking. I usually add it when the burgers are at around 130-140 degrees when checked with my ThermaPen One thermometer.

There is a trick to adding cheese to a burger in the air fryer. First let me show you what can happen if you don't follow my trick.

Cheese that is melted on the burgers and on the basket of an air fryer.

The air from the air fryer blew the cheese around so that it wasn't on the burger where it should be or at least not completely on the burger! So what you should do is stop the air fryer completely. Add the cheese quickly and close the basket. Wait a couple minutes, then start it up again. Finish coking the burgers until they reach 160 degrees.

By placing the burgers in the warm air fryer on the warm burger, the cheese will start to melt a little bit before the air starts blowing. This will allow the cheese to adhere to the burger and stay on it.

    Ingredients

    • Frozen Burger Patties
    • Buns that will fit the patties
    • any toppings you want

    Instructions

    • Place as many frozen burger patties as you want to cook or that will fit in your air fryer. Arrange in a single layer.
    • Set your air fryer for 10 minutes at 400 degrees. But only air fry the burgers until they reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees checked with an instant read thermometer in the middle of the burger. If not done at 10 minutes, cook longer at the same temperature until they are.
    • If you want to add cheese, do so after about 8 minutes of cooking. Pause the air fryer, pull out the basket. Add thinly sliced cheese. Close the basket. Allow to sit for a couple minutes before you start it up again. This will allow the cheese to begin to melt enough so the air from the air fryer doesn't blow the cheese off the burger. Then finish air frying until the burgers are at 160 degrees.
