For today's episode of the podcast, I wanted to do something a little different, I want to talk about one of my favorite appliances - my Ninji Foodi Dual Basket air fryer. I got one with money from my birthday back in December. I was previously using a small, Faberware one that we had got at Walmart.
The dual basket one is so much better for so many reasons. The most obvious one is the ability to cook two different foods for different times and even temperatures at the same time. I can air fry a protein while I air fry a vegetable. Trust me you want to air fryer your veggies. Air fried asparagus is so good with the crispy tips. It makes cooking dinner easier. Before if I wanted to air fry two different things for dinner, I had to do it in shifts and the first thing would be getting cold while I finish the second thing up. I often would then have to quickly reheat the first thing.
Speaking of cooking in shifts, I often had to cook in shifts with my old air fryer as we are a family of 6. If we were having chicken in the air fryer, half of us would get our food first, and then the other half when the rest of the chicken was done. Now I can use both baskets of my air fryer to get all of it done at once, so we can eat together.
Now couldn't I have done this in a larger air fryer, like the ones that look more like mini-ovens? Yes, but I have observed as the space you have to air fry gets larger it doesn't do as good of a job. I once used a large air fry with different trays to cook some cauliflower. It was unevenly done. I had to rotate it and some was done before others. I had a microwave that had an air fryer setting and it took twice as long as my standard size air fryer to cook anything. You are better off having a large space divided up.
Another feature I like better is that the basket is a rectangle as opposed to a square. You can put a small rectangular foil container filled with things like meatloaf or mac & cheese and it fits nicely in the air fryer. We have baked mini loaves of bread in ours as well. Chicken tenders fit more evenly in a rectangular basket. My kids make grilled cheese sandwiches and they can fit two sandwiches in itself at a time without them touching. Or we use it to toast bread or bagels.
Speaking of bagels one of our favorite air fryer recipes is to make bagel pizzas. We take bagel, put homemade tomato sauce on each half. Top with cheese and pepperoni or bacon. Then we air fry them until the cheese has melted. It's super easy, fast, and delicious.
Salmon lovers, I especially want to get your attention. I want to turn this episode over to my friend and fellow blogger, Jeri from Winding Creek Ranch to share with you how she makes Teriyaki Salmon in the air fryer.

🛒 Before You Checkout
What you need to know before you checkout at the grocery store or market:
I believe the air fryer has helped us save leftovers from the trash. This is especially the case with leftover fries. No one wants to eat leftover fries that were heated back up in the microwave. And most of us probably don't want to take the time for the oven to heat up.
It's also good for re-heating things like
⦁ Pizza
⦁ Chicken Nuggets
⦁ Bacon
⦁ Onion rings
⦁ Sausages
⦁ Hot Dogs
⦁ Croissants
⦁ Biscuits
⦁ Egg Rolls
⦁ Burritos
