Today I will be reviewing a soda made in the flavor of the state fruit of Idaho - the huckleberry. This carbonated beverage was created by Orca Beverages under their Americana line. Orca is all about giving their customers a nostalgic feeling. I had their black cherry soda previously, which I enjoyed, so I was looking forward to trying the huckleberry. This drink contains real huckleberry and elderberry extracts and is sweetened with cane sugar. I have reviewed two other huckleberry sodas on this site: Flathead Lake Monster Huckleberry and Jackson Hole Soda Co. High Mountain Huckleberry Soda.
Wow! This was even better than I expected. I was sad when I downed the last drop. The flavor of the huckleberry was strong. It didn't not have any artificial taste. The drink was sweet, but not too sweet. As my friends at Old 52 suggested, this would be great along side some vanilla ice cream. One of the best things I ever reviewed. I will be making sure I eventually get my hands on all the Americana flavors.
Where to Buy
I got mine through the Old 52 General Store's online store. They carry over 300 flavors of glass bottled soda including these Americana flavors: Black Cherry, Huckleberry, Honey Lime Ginger Ale, Orange Cream, and Root Beer. Their physical store is located in Sabin, Minnesota.
John
The Huckleberry flavor has Elderberry extract in it and that is not labeled except in ingredients. Elderberry is an allegen to many folks and can cause severe, life-threatening reactions. This ingredient should be on the front of the packaging, perhaps as an enhancer (Elder-Huckleberry Soda).
