Dorothy's Isle of Pines Root Beer

    Published: Jan 21, 2011 Β· Modified: Jan 29, 2020 by Eric Samuelson

Dorothys Root Beer Sometimes when I am writing one of my reviews, is hard to come up with a lot of background info. That is not the case today. Dorothy's Isle of Pines Root Beer has an interesting story behind it. Dorothy Molter lived in Minnesota, where she operated the Isles of Pines resort. She was a nurse who helped both man and animal. She was also known for her homemade root beer, which is why she is called "the Root Beer lady". She brewed about 10,000-12,000 bottles a year!

She passed away in 1986. Today in Ely, Minnesota stands a museum dedicated to her life. Of course, they also sell root beer! Click here to learn more about the museum.

3stars Great story, OK root beer. It has a little bit of spice to it, which makes it better than an average root beer. The flavor itself is not anything unique in itself. I did enjoy learning the story behind it and it would be fun to grab a bottle if I ever make it to the museum!

    Where to Buy
Old 52 General Store I got mine through the Old 52 General Store's online store. They carry over 300 flavors of glass bottled soda. Their physical store is located in Sabin, Minnesota.

    Nice to Meet You,

Hi! I'm Eric : Father of 4, living just south of Ann Arbor, MI. I'm a reformed picky eater finding a new way to not conform. Eating what's in season is my jam (I also make it!)
