❓ Are you struggling to get your food blogging business going in the direction you want it to?
Maybe you attend all the webinars and conferences. You belong to several Facebook groups, and you never miss the most recent podcast episode on the latest in blogging. You paid for a food photography course. You know what to do, that isn't the problem.
Your struggle is more about the ability to execute it all. It can be very overwhelming to juggle all of these balls at once:
- Writer
- Photographer
- Editor
- Social media influencer
- Email marketer
- SEO expert
- Website developer
- Grocery shopper
- Cook
To make a living off of food blogging, we have to play these all of these roles or pay someone to play them for us.
Additionally, what if you have a family of young kids? Or maybe you struggle with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem or confidence, time management, ADHD or it's your physical health that is hampering you. I want to help!
🤝 Support Group
I have created a support group/community, where people can come and help each other through it all.
This is a place where you can share your feelings about how your business is going. If it sucks right now and you are frustrated, this is a platform that you can express that. You won’t be “a downer”. Those feelings are real and should be validated.
This group isn’t about trying to tackle the newest social media platform, the latest SEO, or figuring out whatever Pinterest wants these days. There are many great resources out there for that, and I would be happy to point you in the right direction. This group is to help support the emotional side of the business. None of us are robots!
We all have emotions. We all have struggles. But we don’t always have the platform to share those struggles with others who truly understand. We may fear if we speak up on something we are going to get strange looks. If you are in a webinar on email marketing, you aren’t going to have the chance to say, “Hey I am struggling being consistent with emails because I don’t feel what I have to say has value" or, "I have wanted to create an email list for a long time, but my depression has limited my productivity."
This group will emphasize not comparing ourselves to others, but comparing ourselves to ourselves. Everyone’s story is different. We all have different challenges and it doesn’t mean we are less than anyone else.
📖 My Story
I started my blog back in October 2009 when I was at stay at home dad with one daughter.
I wanted to find a way I could make money at home while my wife worked and I cared for my daughter. I did not find a lot of support at that time as a stay at home dad. And I suffered from bouts of depression, especially in the hot, humid summer months - think seasonal effective disorder but in reverse.
I developed my business into something that made a little money for us. At one point my wife lost her job and I ended up going to work myself. I keep working on the blog when I could but was only slowly making any headway.
I suffered from sleep apnea that I couldn't afford to treat. So I was not getting quality sleep at night as I would have a breathing episode up 30+ times an hour. I worked an inconsistent schedule of working evenings and then the next morning often. This made it difficult to be able to find consistent time to work on my blog.
In 2015, I had an episode of Supraventricular tachycardia, which is an increased heart rate. Imagine the feeling you are running but you are sitting down. This sent me to the ER. In late 2016, I had several more of these episodes and in January 2017 I was back in the ER after my worst episode. This time I was treated for the condition and haven't had an episode since. At that time it put me out of my job for about 7 weeks. Only through the kindness of others were we able to financially survive that time.
When I got back to work, I quickly ended up feeling burned out. Then I found out about Mediavine. I applied and I was accepted. This immediately increased my income to the point where I could commit to do it full time and in February 2018, I received my first payment from Mediavine that was enough for a full time income.
Despite depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, SVT, and sleep apnea I turned my blog I started all the way back in 2009 into a business that would support my family to live our dream of owning a camper and traveling the country full time with our 4 kids.
It's still not easy. I definitely have my down days. As much as you need the support, I need it as well. Let's lift each other up!
💲 Cost
The cost for the group is $70 per month. What you will get is 2-60 minute Zoom calls a month. And a dedicated Slack channel to share on 24/7. I also offer a 30-45 minute Zoom call when you join with me to talk about your business and your challenges.
I am capping the number of people in the group at 8 plus myself, so we can keep it small and everyone can feel like they can talk during our calls. Since spots are limited, fill out our interest form soon before those spots fill up.
If the group is full or you don't have the funds to committ each month, I also offer 1-time coaching calls via Zoom that you can sign up for.
🛒Interested in Joining?
Fill out our sign up form below and I will be in touch about joining the group. Or if you are looking for a 1-time coaching call.
What the group will be:
- A place to share your struggles with no judgment. Be heard!
- A place to get ideas on how to get work done despite your struggles.
- A place to hear ideas from other people.
- A place to be encouraged.
This group is not meant to replace mental health counseling. It’s a community to share your struggles, to know you are not alone in them, and get some ideas from others on how to grow your business despite your challenges.
