Junami Apple

I am always up to try a new apple. I heard about the Junami apple via the Busch’s facebook page. This apple variety is grown in Switzerland. I am pretty sure this is the first Swiss apple I have had. It is a cross between one of favorite baking apples, the Ida Red with Maigold with Elstar. The apple is round in shape and is average in size.

My Experience with this Apple (Rating Scale 1-10)
Crispiness: 7
Tartness : 7
Apple Flavor: 8
Sweetness: 6
Juiciness: 8

Overall Feeling: This is a flavorful apple that is tart, but with enough sweetness to make it a great out of hand eating apple. It’s both juicy and crisp. This apple is marketed as a thirst-quencher, so it better be juicy! The size is perfect to go in any brown bag lunch.

Where to Find/Buy
The apple can be found from the end of December until about June (if you are lucky). The apple has a long shelf life. I found them for a limited time at Busch’s in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
