    🛒 Before You Checkout

What you need to know before you checkout at the grocery store or market:

Yellow and white popcorn kernels are available in basically every store. But what I like is to buy red, purple, blue, rainbow, or mushroom, or Ladyfinger popcorn kernels. The best source of these are in any store that carries "Amish bulk goods" like flours, rice, candies, etc. You can find brands like Amish Country and Troyer's at a lot of these places. The different colored popcorns have different flavor profiles and they popup differently. Some will have smaller hulls.

One of my favorite types of popcorn is called Dakota Black. It's not very commonly grown. I have only found it at a farmer's market in Ohio and one in Portland, Oregon. But it has a delightfully nutty flavor unlike other popcorn. If you ever see it anywhere get some into your possession soon as you can!
