Episode 019 - When are Pears Ripe?

Published: Sep 12, 2022 by Eric Samuelson

Hey everyone, before we launch into today's episode, I want to take a moment to thank this week's sponsor, Grapery. They are known for growing grapes with extraordinary flavor. In stores right now look for their grapes that taste just like Cotton Candy, their uniquely shaped Moon Drops grapes, and their fruity Gum Drops grapes.

In episode 019, learn the secret to when pears are ripe. Listen to the episode to find out the best moment to eat a pear. Also learn why the variety of pear matters.

    πŸ›’ Before You Checkout

What you need to know before you checkout at the grocery store or market:

If you are buying a lot of pears at the store, if you can try to buy them at different stage of ripeness. This is easy with Bartlett pears. Buy them at different stages of turning green to yellow.

Knowing when fruit is ripe is key saving it from being overripe and wasted. Look for the search box on the blog and type in "ripe" to find more posts on how to tell if a fruit is ripe.
