🥩 Salt & Pepper for Steak

It always starts with salt and pepper and sometimes I just end in there! This is especially truth when I am just cooking a flavorful steak like a Ribeye.

My favorite salts and pepper comes from a single origin spice company called Burlap & Barrel. They were featured on Shark Tank in April 2023. Their spices are going to be a lot fresher too as they directly source from the farm, no middle men.

    Here are some options:

    • Salina Crystal Salt
    • Black Lime & Chili Salt
    • Black Mineral Salt
    • Fermented White Pepper
    • Purple Peppercorns
    • Zanzibar Black Peppercorns
    • Robusta Black Peppercorns

Any of their peppercorns are going to really blow your mind. They are just fantastic. I really enjoy them the most on a steak.

    🍖 Spices for Roasting Beef

When I am roasting a big chunk of meat I like to use a variety of different spices. Let me share with a couple different homemade blends I have used on this blog. This one I used for an eye of round roast.

    • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
    • 1 teaspoon coriander seed
    • 1 teaspoon celery seed
    • 1 teaspoon whole cumin seeds
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • ¼ teaspoon ground mustard

And this blend I used for a bottom round roast.

    • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon cumin
    • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
    • 1 teaspoon crushed coriander

    🌮 Shredded Beef Tacos

What if tacos is more your thing. I have a recipe for making a shredded/Barbacoa beef in the Instant Pot. In looking to replicate that flavor the best I can, I use the best smoked paprika I have ever tasted.

    • 1 tsp smoked paprika
    • t tsp garlic powder
    • t tsp dried oregano
    • 1 tbsp Muscovado brown sugar
    • 2 tsp kosher salt
    • 1 tsp cumin seeds crushed
    • pepper flakes to taste

I am going to be adding more ideas for seasoning beef to this page. Which spice is the one you are most looking forward to trying? Leave a comment below.
