π Before You Checkout
What you need to know before you checkout at the grocery store or market:
To find quality Heirloom navels that will be worth your money, they should appear very round with a thinner skin than the "regular Navels". I would really stick to brands like Sky Valley or Ripe to You. Other companies that call them Heirloom navels or some form of that, I don't find their fruit to be anything better and definitely not worth an added cost.
Speaking of cost you shouldn't have to pay more $2 a pound for Heirloom Navels. Often they cost less. I have seen them on sale from time to time.
For storage, keep them in the fridge if you have the space until you are ready to eat them, so they last longer. But bring them to room temperature first before eating for optimal flavor.
