    Junami Apple

    Published: Mar 30, 2011 · Modified: Mar 31, 2021 by Eric Samuelson

Learn more about this juicy apple from Switzerland that has a name that sounds like a Dwayne Johnson or Robin Williams movie.

A single Junami Apple sitting on a wood board.

I am always up to try a new apple. I heard about the Junami apple via the Busch's facebook page.

The apple certainly has a fun name going for it.

This apple variety is grown in Switzerland. I am pretty sure this is the first Swiss apple I have had.

It is a cross between one of my favorite baking apples, the Ida Red with Maigold with Elstar. The apple is round in shape and is average in size.

    ? Taste

Here is how I rate the Kanzi apples in 5 different categories.

    Crispiness7
    Tartness7
    Flavor8
    Sweetness6
    Juiciness8

This is a flavorful apple that is tart, but with enough sweetness to make it a great out of hand eating apple. It's both juicy and crisp. This apple is marketed as a thirst-quencher, so it better be juicy! The size is perfect to go in any brown bag lunch.

    ❄️ Season

The apple can be found from the end of December until about June (if you are lucky). I have mostly seen them in January or February.

I am interested in the jumani apple. Where can I get it? Seeds, fruit or tree?

I haven't seen them in a while now. And unfortunately I don't know of any source for trees. I wish I could be of more help.

    Nice to Meet You,

Hi! I'm Eric : Father of 4, living just south of Ann Arbor, MI. I'm a reformed picky eater finding a new way to not conform. Eating what's in season is my jam (I also make it!)
