    Published: Oct 14, 2022 Β· Modified: Apr 13, 2023 by Eric Samuelson

In episode 033 learn about how long you can expect grated or shredded parmesan cheese to last in your fridge. Also tips on how to do the grating yourself to save money.

    πŸ›’ Before You Checkout

What you need to know before you checkout at the grocery store or market:

Parmesan isn't the only hard cheese that is good for grating. Look for Asiago, Dry Monterrey Jack, Pecorino Romano or just Romano. All of these cheeses are delicious with pasta. The dish Cacio e Pepe is usually made with a mix of Parmesan and Pecorino Romano along with lots of freshly cracked black pepper.

The hard cheeses may be in a different area of the store than where you find the name and store brand blocks and shredded cheese bags. Look in or near the produce department in many stores.
