Some ideas for what to serve with Panko Breaded Fried Shrimp. Find out how to round out your meal.
Is friend shrimp on the menu tonight?
Or maybe you are doing some meal planning and are looking for some inspiration on what to serve with it. We have some great ideas below that I know you are going to love.
๐ฅ Sides
So what sides go well with Panko fried shrimp? Here are some recommendations.
Baked potato - Super easy to make. Just throw some Russet potatoes into the oven. Most recipes call for them to be baked for 1 hour, I found that if you do them for 2 hours at 400 degrees, the outside skin will be crispy (you could eat it) and the potato will be fluffier.
Fries - Is there anything more American than a side of fries? Fries are always welcome with fried shrimp. Homemade fries are even better. You could even take those baked potatoes I just recommended and turn them into Baked Potato Fries.
Asparagus - I never need an excuse to eat asparagus. My favorite way to cook - Air Fried Asparagus
Carrots - The sweetness of the carrots is a great compliment to the salty taste of the shrimp. Get multiple colored carrots if you can because I think they just make life more fun!
Creamed Corn - How about something creamy to go with your shrimp? We have a recipe for Elote Creamed Corn that is a take on the classic Mexican street corn. Yum!
Salad - Nothing makes you feel better about eating fried food than serving it with a salad. My wife and I love a good Cesar and my oldest is obsessed with any salad with blue cheese dressing.
Coleslaw - You could call this a salad as well. Best if you can make it yourself. Pretty much every grocery store carries bags of pre-cut cabbage and carrots. Then you can make a sauce for it that is perfect to your liking. My daughter will eat coleslaw if it's not too sweet, which you find that a lot of ready made coleslaw is because they add sugar.
๐ Rice & Cucumber Salad
We recently gave this a try and my wife and I loved it. It's kind of a take on a Poki bowl. We first cook up some rice in the Instant Pot. My wife prefers Calrose Rise, which is a medium grain race that is a bit sticky. Cook the rice anyway you want but if you use the Instant Pot, follow these instructions
- Add equal parts rice and water to the Instant Pot.
- Put the lid on. Set to seal.
- Cook on high pressure for 4 minutes.
- Wait for 10 minutes, then release any pressure left.
- Fluffy with a fork.
Then I made a quick cucumber salad. The cucumber is a nice fresh addition to the dish. For the salad I add these ingredients to taste to sliced up mini or Persian cucumbers. No peeling necessary.
- Soy sauce
- Everything But the Bagel seasoning (or just use sesame seeds & garlic powder)
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Toasted sesame oil (it's strong so carefully add and taste)
- Salt and pepper to taste

๐ฎ Make Tacos
I love me some good fried shrimp tacos. If you are looking for a way to use the shrimp, why not throw it all together in a tortilla! For me it's great portion control as I didn't eat as many shrimp when it's in taco.
Here are some ingredients to add to your tacos:
- Coleslaw mix or any other type of slaw
- Sour cream or Mexican crema
- Chopped cilantro
- Diced fresh mango
- Guacamole
- Salsa
- Pico de Gallo
- Corn or corn salsa
- Rice
- Refried or pureed beans
- Fresh lime juice
- Taco sauce
- Cocktail sauce
